ADA - IDEA Anniversary Party! July 24, 2010

We celebrated the 20th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the 35th Anniversary of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) in style! A Reunion of Mississippi Families and Friends was held on Saturday, July 24. We began by welcoming back Push America's Journey of Hope, who arrived at City Hall in Jackson at approximately 11:30 am. They were greeted by a host of consumers as well as Mayor Johnsons staff and US Attorney Don Burkhalter. After a brief formal ceremony and proclomation in the Rose Garden, we paraded from City Hall to the LIFE offices at 1304 Vine Street, Jackson for an afternoon Block Party. Former Governor Ronnie Musgrove spoke and introduced his lovely wife, Melody, who haas just been appointed the new Secretary for the US Department of Eduation! We were entertained by Jesse Robinson, Clayton Pepper, Alison and Michael Smitherman, the Magnolia Chorus and the Mustard Seed Hand Bell Choir.
