The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR) and Vocational Rehabilitation for the Blind (OVRB) are inviting you to attend the Policy and State Plan Public Hearing.
A public hearing will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., at standard statewide locations, with a virtual option available.
Stakeholders are invited to review the policy and state plan and submit comments. The state plan will be available prior to the hearing on the MDRS website and the NFB Newsline. All feedback will be considered; however, individual responses will not be provided. The public comment period closes Friday, August 14, 2026.
The Statewide Independent Living Council (SILC), in collaboration with Living Independence for Everyone, Inc., and MDRS, is responsible for developing and maintaining the State Plan for Independent Living (SPIL). The SPIL outlines its plans for providing independent living services to individuals with disabilities in Mississippi. We are seeking your public comments. Attached is the current SPIL for FY2025-2027. Please review and submit your comments in writing regarding proposed changes to the MS Department of Rehabilitation Services, P.O. Box 1698, Jackson, MS 39215.
